England is an incredibly diverse country full of unique sights and sounds that are unlike anything else in the world. But while there may be lots of fun things to do in London, we can’t forget that the English countryside is also worth exploring. With so many different towns and villages to uncover, it can be daunting to try and pick someplace to visit. So to help you out, we’ve put together a small list of quaint English towns and villages that are definitely worth checking out.
Beaulieu
Beaulieu is a small village on the southeastern edge of the New Forest national park in Hampshire. This is a sleepy and idyllic village that makes for a great picnic location, but also a relaxing accommodation option for visiting the nearby landmarks. There are also a surprising number of things to do in Beaulieu if you’re willing to explore. From unique food and drink experiences to the National Motor Museum, you could definitely plan a long weekend to Beaulieu and have plenty of exciting things to do every day.
Stanton
Stanton is one of the many untouched countrysides in England that maintains its classic country roots. While you won’t find many commercial brands in Stanton, you’ll find miles of beautiful English countryside views and rural treasures to explore. With captivating views at every corner of the parish, this is an experience that you’ll want to cherish.
Solihull
Solihull is a large market town in the West Midlands that has everything you could ask for. Beautiful English architecture, lots of fun community events, and plenty of beautiful sights with no massive buildings in sight. Finding a hotel in Solihull is easy and there are still plenty of modern amenities and shopping experiences to be had once you get tired of hiking through the countryside. If you’re looking for the quintessential English town experience, then Solihull is the place to be.
Clovelly
Clovelly stands out as one of the most unique and interesting villages to visit in England. It’s built on a cliffside and features some extremely unique architecture that you won’t find in other parts of the country. It has some of the oldest stores in the country and you’ll encounter many cheerful locals and outstanding views. Clovelly is certainly one of those locations where you’ll have to find your own fun. There’s not exactly a huge number of activities, but there are plenty of sights and sounds to explore.
Whitby
Whitby is one of the best places to visit if you want to explore the waters around England. As a coastal town, you’ll have access to plenty of seafaring activities, delicious seafood, and many historic destinations like the Whitby Abbey. Whitby is usually one of the stops that people make when they visit Yorkshire, but it’s also a fantastic place to visit on its own if you want to relax and unwind in a beautiful little town that is teeming with adventure. With plenty of accommodation options to pick from, we can’t recommend it enough.
