Are you a content creator looking to build a UGC Portfolio? Here are some tips…
If you’re a UGC Creator looking to take the leap into UGC as a source of full-time income, then a good portfolio is crucial. I always recommend making sure you have a social media profile full of your own content to show what you can do, but often brands want to see examples of brand content you’ve produced on a paid basis.
Creating something professional to show brands makes the whole process much simpler for the both of you. The brand can easily see what kind of content you create and what you can do for them, and you can quickly show off your content to the (hopefully!) floods of emails you’re receiving in your inbox from new clients.
There are lots of ways to create a portfolio of brand content, here are some of the ways you can start to build your portfolio:
Create a website
A website always seems like quite a scary thing to create, but if you don’t already have one, then there are some simple ways to create one. You can use things like Wix, Squarespace, or Canva with their easy to use customisable templates. Once you’ve built a basic website, you just need one page where you can either put links to pieces of brand content, or you can embed the videos into the page so they can be viewed and played from the page. The design possibilities are endless with a website too, there are so many templates available that you can choose from to make it look lovely and professional.
Build a PDF document
With Adobe Acrobat you can easily create a PDF portfolio by gathering together individual files, folders, or even web pages. If you find the whole idea of creating an entire website a bit overwhelming, this can be a more simpler way to create a portfolio that can just live on your desktop. A PDF document can also be as simple or as detailed as you like, you could have a starting page introducing yourself and detailing previous brands you’ve worked with, which then leads to examples of the content you’ve produced. Or, you could just have an incredibly basic document that gets straight to the point with examples of your work.
Use cloud platforms
Despite having a website, I actually prefer using Google Drive to show off my own brand content. I work with quite a lot of brands on a monthly basis and when I’ve finished creating the content, I share it with them via Google Drive. The video files are always too big to send via email, and with the Google Drive app I can simple upload it straight from my camera roll and then send the brand a simple link to the content by email. Once my content is all signed off, I now move the video files into one big combined folder of brand content, that I can then send to new clients who ask to see some UGC examples. This is working great for me so far and it feels nice and organised. There are no bells & whistles with this, but I do feel like I don’t need it with already having a blog and social platforms readily available.
